One Great Step For Man . . . They were working on the Apollo flight for NASA, the coverage for CBS news special events. They were looking for somebody that could do an accurate painting of a rocket ship, I was able to do that." "I was very happy to have contributed to the Apollo missions. I worked on paintings used in the animated films, to show the rocket streaking through the sky with flames jetting out, the stages and boosters dropping, altitude changes, and coverage behind the moon where TV transmission was blocked. Part of our film was simulation of a model rocket photographed against a background showing the rocket's blast. This job, doing simple NASA animated simulations, eventually led me to a job in feature films." RMQBANTHA TRACKS Number 15, Copyright © February 1982 |
